Soft Architecture
In New Orleans the edges of architecture are softened. Nature creeps in. Certain compromises are made to the weather, the heat, slow decay, insatiable plants and insects. The Soft Architecture artists arrive at KK Projects prepared to address the spaces as they find them, open-air, overgrown, loose. They bring plans and ideas and personal inquiries. The Soft Architects will use flexibility and cooperation in the conscious creation of unified form in an unpredictable environment.
Soft Architecture brings together artists working in a variety of three-dimensional mediums, from fabric and mud to trash and tape. Embroiderers, woodworkers, seamstresses, illustrators, architects and landscapers join with the common mission to make something interesting in an already interesting space.
Soft Architecture puts seemingly opposed forces together and asks what happens when art interacts with its own destruction.
