Oil Spill #2, Discoverer Enterprise, Gulf of Mexico, May 11, 2010

Edward Burtynsky visited the Louisiana gulf to photograph the BP oil spill and during a visit with Life is Art Collective, contributed this print to the Eiffel Society exhibition. Burtynsky selected the print out of many for it's dark, tempestuous quality. To allow for presentation of the print in a very large 112" x 90" format, and further express the pervasive sense of tragic disorientation, Life is Art constructed a wall with an intense tilt in the tradition of the overwhelming leaning surfaces of Richard Serra and Dan Flavin.

The print is part of a comprehensive exhibition on the spill to be released in Spring, 2011.
