Pavilion of the Four Winds

London based artists Gmachl + Wingfield create sculpture based on molecular structures inspired by nature. Designed to illuminate at night, their forms serve as a trellis for living plants by day. Pavilion of the Four Winds is designed to support City Park's native ecosystem and the practice of urban farming through imitation and collaboration with nature. The installation is a development upon an earlier piece, Sonombra, which was exhibited at NOMA this spring for the Design and the Elastic Mind exhibition. The piece will remain in the New Orleans Botanical Garden following Voodoo Experience where vegetable producing vines will climb its form.
