Ladder

A ladder rises 108 feet into the sky. Each of the sculpture’s 108 rungs represent a bead in the traditional prayer necklace. Through perfect balance, the sculpture supports its weight while reaching exquisite height. Twenty-four cables radiate from its center in a circle, fastening the sculpture to the ground in effortless poise. Both engineering feat and poetic gesture, Ladder speaks of strength through balance. Its aluminum structure is engineered to hold more humans than can climb it, yet the contemplation of its height alone is an experience of broadening perspective.

On Halloween night, at the base of the sculpture, Griffin will lead a traditional meditation ceremony to remove all obstacles and free all beings from suffering.
